Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Wildcats Escape Scots In Tight Battle

Returning to the Bennett Center after nearly two weeks on the road, Gordon College Volleyball hosted the Johnson & Wales (JWU) Wildcats on Kanas Court tonight. The Fighting Scots got the crowd going with an opening set victory, but the visitors were able to tune out the noise to claim the 3-1 win over Gordon.

How It Happened

  • The Wildcats raced off to an early advantage before a 6-0 run by the Fighting Scots put the home team out in front. Gordon continued to hold the upper hand until JWU locked it up at 19, 20, 21, 22-all. The blue and white, however, settled in to secure the 25-23 win.
  • In the second frame, JWU once again took the early lead and was able to continue to keep the Fighting Scots at bay en route to the 25-21 win and even it out at 1-1.
  • Gordon began to chip away midway through the frame to climb out of the deficit thanks to six straight thrilling points to bring the score even 22-22. However, JWU regained steam to take the third 25-22.
  • Both sides traded points midway through the fourth as JWU began to pull away (17-13). Not backing down, the blue and white once again used six consecutive points to flip the script and go up, 22-20. The Wildcats were then able to capitalize when necessary to seal the win (25-23) and overall 3-1.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Joey Keltner recorded her fourth double-double of the season.
  • Olivia Fleming dished out a season-high 15 assists.
  • Gordon remains on Kanas Court as they host a tri match on Sunday, September 22 against Keene State and Wheaton with games starting at noon.
