Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Montano Magic Strikes Springfield In 2-1 Victory

For game two of their four-game road stint, Gordon College Men's Soccer traveled out to Springfield to compete against the Pride of Springfield College. Gordon's Moises Montano made a statement as the rookie netted two goals to secure the 2-1 win over the Pride.

How It Happened
  • Gordon knocked on the door often and early after the opening whistle and it paid off. In the 14th minute, Montano ripped in a shot off of a feed from Benny Simpson to put the visitors up, 1-0. Simpson nearly made it a two-goal game, but the Pride's keeper kept the game in reach for his squad with a save. Two minutes later, the home team locked the scoreboard up at 1-1 going into halftime.
  • After the Pride were unable to get a shot off after a corner, the blue and white pressed on immediately as senior Noah Martin found Montano who laced in his second tally of the afternoon to put Gordon on top, 2-1 in the 70th minute. Looking to tie it up once again, Springfield tested the Fighting Scot defense down the stretch, but keeper Gunnar Lucuk made a trio of timely saves to come away with the 2-1 road victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • This marks not only the first goal of Moises Montano's collegiate career, but also his first multi-goal game.
  • Gunnar Lucuk recorded his highest save total since his rookie campaign with seven today.
  • On Tuesday, September 10, the Scots hit the road once again to play Babson in Wellesley, Mass. for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
