Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Scots Drop Two In Road Tri-Match

Taking the court for their first road tri-match, Gordon College Volleyball took the short trek to take on their hosts Lasell University as well as Clark University today. Both contests were tight, but the Fighting Scots fell to both their opponents, 3-0.

Gordon vs. Lasell
  • Down 4-1, Gordon flipped the script to go on top, 6-4 as Wren Worth anchored the Fighting Scots behind the service line. The Scots continued to hold the upper hand until the Lasers used a 6-0 scoring spree to regain the lead and come out with the 25-18 win.
  • Knotted up at 15-all and then 21-all, the Scots were gritty in the second frame, but the home team took the win to lead 2-0 (25-23).
  • In another back and forth frame, Gordon raced out to the early advantage before Lasell came roaring back to secure the sweep with the final 25-20 victory.
Gordon vs. Clark
  • An ace from Teagan Brideweser capped off a 5-0 run from the blue and white to tie the game at 10-10 forcing Clark to call a timeout to stop the bleeding. Clark's timeout proved to be the difference maker as the Cougars regained the lead and never looked back as they claimed the 25-21 win.
  • With another ping pong battle where the scoreboard was equal six different times, the Cougars booked back-to-back kills to close out the set, 26-24.
  • Gordon opened up the third hot, taking a initial lead before Clark got out front. Clark came within one point of winning, but the Scots made it interesting as Annie Zimmerman and Joey Keltner slammed down a trio of kills (24-24). The Cougars however prevailed but needed extra time as they took the 26-24 win for the sweep.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Annie Zimmerman tied her season-high with seven kills.
  • With 11 kills against Clark, Annie Murphy has reached double digit kills in four games so far this season.
  • Gordon hits the road once again as they travel up north to take on the Rivier Raiders on Thursday, September 12 at 7 p.m.
