Gordon College Men's Basketball welcomed Conference of New England (CNE) opponent Wentworth Leopards on Kanas Court today for their final game before classes begin this week, where the Fighting Scots took off in the second half and did look back. The Scots outpaced the Leopards for a 80-75 win.

Bernie McGuinness led the Scots with 27 points and six rebounds, Alex Daniel put up 16 points and four rebounds, while Isaac Jarvis scored 10 points and grabbed seven boards.

For the Leopards, Tyler Stewart scored 24 points with 10 rebounds, Russell Dolabany hit 17 points and secured six rebounds, and Jack Connell shot for nine points.

How It Happened

• The Scots and Leopards traded baskets for much of the first half, as the blue and white began to pull away after the Leopards midway through the frame to lead 27-18 thanks to a shot from behind the arc from Sean Quanico. The visitors were only able to cut the deficit to six down the stretch as Gordon led, 39-30 at halftime.
• Daniel put up eight points for the Scots in the second half while McGuinness shot over 50% for 12 points. The duo hit big shot after big shot to keep the game out of reach from the Leopards. Jarvis went to work in the paint grabbing rebounds and putting up second chance points. The Scots smothered a late effort by the Leopards to take a 80-75 win.

• Alex Daniel tied his season high in points with 16.
• This is the eighth time Bernie  McGuinness has scored over 20 points this season.
• Next up for the blue and white is another CNE contest as they travel out to Springfield, Mass. to play the Western New England Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m.
