Hitting the road once again for midweek Conference of New England (CNE) play, Gordon College Men's Basketball traveled out west to take on the Golden Bears of Western New England where the top-ranked CNE squad used a second half push to claim the 89-77 win.
Gordon's
Bryce Smith orchestrated a double-double with 12 assists and 15 points,
Ryan Brooks had a team-high 20 points, whileĀ
Alex Daniel chipped in 16 points and six rebounds.Ā
WNE's
Luka Vlajkovic scored a game-high 23 points, followed by
Brian Geitner with 18 and
Jake Harrison with 10 points.Ā
How It Happened
- The Golden Bears opened up the first half with a three-ball to give the home team the early edge. However, the Scots stayed with WNE, locking up the scoreboard a trio of times before the fourth time did the trick as the blue and white went on a 10-0 run to go on top, 33-23 with 5:06 on the clock. WNE was able to trim down the deficit to 37-30 at the break.Ā
- A 13-0 scoring spree from the Golden Bears flipped the script to put the Golden Bears out in front, 61-55 midway through the half. Brandon Swann cut WNE's lead to eight with 39 ticks remaining in regulation, but the Golden Bears come out with the come from behind victory.
