WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Salem State in non-conference competition at the Brigham Athletic Complex Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Salem State scored twice in the first quarter to seize a 2-0 advantage.
- The Vikings tacked on a goal with just over five minutes left to play in the third period as Mikayla Talbot netted her third tally of the contest to extend the margin to 3-0.
- Gordon got on the board with less than three minutes remaining in the third to trim the deficit to 3-1. Maddie Ellrod (Granby, Conn.) chalked up her second goal of the season as Sarah Bourk (Barrington, R.I.) collected her first assist of the fall.
- Neither side produced a goal in the final frame as Salem State secured a 3-1 win to snap a three-game skid.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Maddie Ellrod (Granby, Conn.) paced the home team with two shots while Sarah Bourk (Barrington, R.I.) and Emma Kyes (Reading, Mass.) each chipped in with one shot attempt.
- Allyson Stauffer (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with one save in her 14th start of the year.
- Gordon concluded the contest with five shots and five penalty corners.
- Salem State manufactured eight shot attempts and two penalty corners on the night.
