WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College men's soccer team eked out a 2-0 win over Nichols Wednesday evening at the Brigham Athletic Complex to remain unbeaten in conference play. The Fighting Scots entered the match ranked No. 8 in the latest United Soccer Coaches regional rankings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon snagged a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Nick Vavala (Newtown Square, Pa.) headed in his second goal of the season off of a corner kick from Benny Simpson (Evergreen, Colo.).
- The Fighting Scots added a late goal to extend the margin to 2-0. Benny Simpson (Evergreen, Colo.) notched his team-leading third marker of the year with a left-footed effort on frame. Zach Hutt (Streetsboro, Ohio) collected his first assist of the season on the 89th minute strike.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Santiago Hernandez (Puebla, Mexico) led the home team with five shots while Benny Simpson (Evergreen, Colo.) finished with four shot attempts.
- Goalkeeper Riley Calemmo (Pocono Mountain, Pa.) registered his second clean sheet in his ninth start of the campaign.
- Gordon racked up 20 shot attempts in the contest while Nichols managed three shots.
