Men’s Basketball Drops Season-Opener at New England College, 75-74

HENNIKER, N.H.- The Gordon College men's basketball team absorbed a narrow 75-74 loss at New England College Wednesday evening in the first contest of the 2025-26 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • New England College strung together a 9-0 run to erase a four-point deficit and grab a 26-21 lead with 6:36 left to play in the first half.
  • Gordon narrowed the gap to 31-30 with 3:09 remaining in the opening period on a layup by Drew Brander (Chester, N.H.).
  • The Pilgrims closed out the first frame with a 6-3 spurt to own a 37-33 advantage at the halftime break.
  • The Fighting Scots tied the game at 49-49 as Isaac Jarvis (Concord, N.H.) sank a free throw with 11:21 to go in regulation.
  • The visitors snagged a two-point edge with less than a minute on the clock, 72-70, as Isaac Jarvis (Concord, N.H.) converted a pair from the charity stripe.
  • After New England College knotted the contest, Gordon reclaimed a 74-72 lead on a bucket by Isaac Jarvis (Concord, N.H.).
  • The Pilgrims responded with a corner trey by Kenray Emadamerho with four seconds remaining in regulation to secure a 75-74 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Alex Daniel (Nolensville, Tenn.) netted a team-high 19 points to go with four rebounds.
  • Drew Brander (Chester, N.H.) finished with 17 points, eight boards, and seven assists.
  • Isaac Jarvis (Concord, N.H.) posted 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
  • Sean Quanico (Pacifica, Calif.) chipped in with nine points and three assists.
  • Gordon shot 42.2% from the floor and connected on 4-of-17 from the perimeter.
  • New England College sported a field-goal percentage of 41.9% to go with 43.3% shooting from beyond the arc.
  • Josh Robie and Mike Strazzeri both scored 16 points to lead the Pilgrims while Jasen Stovell added 15 points off the bench.
