Gordon College Men's Basketball hosted the Hartford Hawks Saturday afternoon. The Hawks got ahead early but the Scots showed heart as they earned a physical 89-83 conference win.

For the Fighting Scots, Bernie McGuinness scored 28 points, Bryce Smith put up 19 points while grabbing six rebound and recording seven assists, then Treyton Tebbs, Isaac Jarvis, and Alex Daniel all scored nine points. 

Kaosi Chijioke scored 23 points, Drew Stack and Reggie Selden scored 17 points each.

How It Happened

• The Hawks took a 28-17 point lead through the first 10 minutes of play. However, the Scots flipped a switch and wasted no time cutting into the deficit. Brandon Swann hit a layup through contact. Daniel followed that with two three pointers. Then McGuinness hit a three of his own to give the Scots a 29-28 lead. The Scots broke down the Hawk's 11 point advantage in just three minutes. The first half ended with the Hawks up 47-40.
• The Hawks took another 11 point lead early in the second half. But another storm of Gordon three pointers brought the Scots back on top with nine minutes left in the game. There were several lead changes down the stretch until a McGuinness three started a 11-4 point run for the Scots. Gordon took a strong 89-83 win over the Hawks.
