Rams Pull Away Late In Second Half To Defeat Scots

Gordon College Men's Basketball welcomed the Suffolk University Rams tonight for their first home midweek game in over a month where the Rams bested the Fighting Scots, 74-56.

The Scots' Bernie McGuinness scored 18 points, Isaac Jarvis added 11, while Treyton Tebbs had nine points.

For the Rams, Danny Yardemian had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Jake Gomez added 14 points, while Nick Verdile chipped in 13 points.

How It Happened
  • In the first five minutes, seven lead changes were had where Gordon was ahead, 18-14. The scoreboard continued to teeter totter with neither side gaining a comfortable edge. However, after a Ryan Brooks jumper to cut Suffolk's lead to three (33-30), the Rams hit a layup and a shot from behind the arc to go on top, 38-30 at halftime.
  • Tebbs made it a three-point game after hitting the bruise and the bucket with 11:29 to go in the second half, but the Rams began to pull away to claim the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Bernie McGuinness registered his five consecutive game of scoring 14 or more points.
  • The Scots return to play on Saturday, February 8 as they travel to Biddeford, Maine to take on the University of New England Nor'easters at 3 p.m.
