Gordon College Baseball geared up under the Florida sunset at NERP to take on the Delaware Valley Aggies. The Fighting Scots and Aggies were caught in a defensive stalemate until the Scots broke through late in the game to win 7-3.

How It Happened

• The Fighting Scots' stout defense led by pitcher Jack Birtwell traded no-hit innings with the Aggies to keep scoreless until the Scots capitalized off a wild pitch in the fourth to go up 1-0.
• The Scots protected their lead in the top of the fifth with three straight outs. Then, Ben Marciano snuck a double down right field to send in another Scots' run. The Scots capped off the fifth with a 2-0 lead.
• The Aggies chipped back into the game, scoring three runs in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead over the Scots. However, it didn't take long for the Scots to tie it back up at 3-3 after another run from a wild pitch.
• Four Scots' runs were scored in the bottom of the eighth to build a commanding 7-3 lead over the Aggies. 
• With two outs in the top of the ninth, Michael Pelletier struck the Aggies out swinging to help the Scots' unshakable defense punch in a 7-3 win.

• Jack Birtwell tied his career high in strikeouts with six.
• The Fighting Scots next play Fitchburg State on Thursday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m.
