Monks Narrowly Evade Scots In Liscomb's Record Breaking Performance

Gordon College Men's Lacrosse traveled to Standish, Maine to face off against the St. Joseph Monks. The Fighting Scots challenged the Monks on their home field, but the Monks survived for a 7-6 win.

For the Fighting Scots, Nicolas Flemmi scored three goals, Jackson Wright found the back of the net two times, and Ryan Arthur added one goal.

Calvin Heline scored three goals for the Monks, while Tyler Moscato, Ryan Bogdanski, Tiger Hopkins, and Declan Covell scored one goal each.

How It Happened
  • The Monks broke through five minutes into the game to go up 1-0. Just over a minute later Wright ripped a ball into the back of the net to tie it up. Flemmi kept the momentum and scored for the Scots' first lead of the day (2-1). However, the Monks were quick to regain the lead as they scored two goals at the end of the first.
  • The Monks went up 4-2 early into the second quarter. The Scots followed with three unanswered goals by Wright, Flemmi, and Arthur. Their three goal run put the blue and white back on top 5-4 heading into halftime.
  • Goalie Colin Liscomb and the Scots' defenders locked heads with the Monks in a defensive third quarter. However the Monks squeaked by the end of the quarter to go up 6-5.
  • Flemmi tied it back at six a piece in the fourth but the Monks scored again to regain the lead (7-6). With the seconds remaining on the clock, the Scots fired off one last shot but was stopped short by the Monks who held on for a 7-6 win.
