Gordon College Men's Lacrosse opened up Conference of New England (CNE) play this evening on the road as the Fighting Scots traveled out to Springfield to take on the Western New England (WNE) Golden Bears where the home team collected the 19-7 win.
The Fighting Scots'
Jackson Wright booked two goals and one assist,
Ryan Arthur added two goals, while
Caden Lake had one goal and one assist.
For WNE,
Jacob Roy found the back of the net three times, while
Thomas Labbe and
Dylan Nardone each chipped in two goals and one assist.
How It Happened
- WNE drew first blood 90 seconds after the opening face-off, but the blue and white fought right back 15 seconds later as William McCormick scooped up a ground ball and raced to the net to lock up the score at 1-1. The home team then scored two more (3-1), before Caden Ellis found the back of the net with 6:10 remaining in the first (3-2). Six more goals were scored by the Golden Bears to lead 8-2 heading into the second frame.
- The Golden Bears erupted for seven goals in the second to widen their lead to 15-2 at halftime.
- After two straight goals from the Golden Bears in the third, Gordon's Arthur matched the home team with two of his own (17-4). Both sides traded one goal each in the final minutes to bring the score to 18-5 with one quarter remaining.
- Gordon outscored their hosts in the final frame, but the Golden Bears had enough to take the win.

- Jackson Wright has scored two or more goals in each of the Scots' five games this season. He has also now reached 100 career points.
- Rookie Caden Ellis registered his first Conference of New England goal in the first quarter.
- Gordon returns to the Brigham Athletic Complex for just their second home contest on Saturday, March 29 to celebrate Senior Day for a 3 p.m. start time.
