Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Darling, Mini Reach Program And Career Milestones In Loss Against Monks

On an extremely windy afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Women's Lacrosse welcomed the Monks of Saint Joseph's College (SJC) for a non-conference contest. After 60 minutes of hard fought play, the Monks came out with the 16-7 win.

For Gordon, Kaitlyn Mini had six goals, Marializ Lopez had one goal, while Tillie Hutton, Hannah Rose, and Caroline Piorkowski each dished out one assist. Kayla Davidson booked 22 saves, and Sophia Tomassoni scooped up five ground balls and had two caused turnovers.

The Monks' Celia Melanson netted six goals and three assists, Shauna Clark had two goals and as many assists,

How It Happened
  • Lopez ripped a shot into the back of the net to draw first blood against the visitors (1-0). The Monks answered back less than a minute later to even out the score at 1-1. However, Mini took the ball in her own hands to score three straight tallies to put Gordon up, 4-1 with 9:36 to go in the quarter. SJC tacked on one more and so did Mini to lead, 5-3 going into the second.
  • The Monks took control in the second quarter to put five up on the scoreboard and hold the 8-5 advantage at the break.
  • Mini found the back of the net twice in the third with her first tally being her 200th career point, but the visitors were able to stay ahead to claim the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Emma Darling became the all-time record holder in caused turnovers in program history in the second quarter.
  • In the third quarter, Kaitlyn Mini booked her 200th career point with a goal.
  • Western New England is the next opponent for the Scots and they will play on Wednesday, March 26 in Springfield at 4 p.m. to open conference action.
