Golden Bears' Second Half Surge Solidifies Win Over Scots

Breaking out into Conference of New England (CNE) play this afternoon, Gordon College Women's Lacrosse traveled out to Springfield to play the Western New England (WNE) Golden Bears where the home team pulled away in the second to take the 15-5 win.

Gordon's Naomi Haysel and Hannah Rose each found the back of the net twice, while Kaitlyn Mini had one tally. Emma Darling booked four caused turnovers and one ground ball, while Sophia Tomassoni grabbed three ground balls.

WNE's Mia Celentano had a game-high four goals and three helpers, Lina Eves added three goals, while Abbey Francis chipped in two goals in the win.

How It Happened
  • After three straight goals by the home team, Mini put her mark on the first quarter as the senior fired in a goal to make it 3-1 at the end of the first.
  • Rookie Haysel joined in on the attack to record a pair of goals in the second to match the Golden Bears' second quarter total, bringing the scoreboard to 5-3 at halftime.
  • WNE rallied out of the break with an eight-goal third, followed by a fourth frame identical to the second as both squads recorded two goals. Rose netted both in the fourth to eliminate cut the Golden Bears' run.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Sophomore Hannah Rose scored her first goals of her collegiate career this afternoon. Additionally this will mark her first multi-goal game of her career.
  • Naomi Haysel registered her first multi-goal game of her young Fighting Scot career.
  • Gordon will now look to Saturday, March 29 as they celebrate Senior Day with a 12 p.m. game against Nichols at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
