Gordon College Men's Lacrosse welcomed the Lions of Emerson College tonight at the Brigham Athletic Complex for their home opener. The Scots kept it tight through three quarters but the Lions pulled away in the fourth for a 13-5 win.
Marco Fernandez scored two goals while adding two more assists for the Fighting Scots,
Jackson Wright found the back of the net two times, and
William McCormick buried one goal past the frame.
Benson Offit scored four goals,
Jack Burns scored another four goals, and
Toby Cunningham scored one goal.
How It Happened
- Fernandez fired in a shot from Caden Lake to put the Fighting Scots on the board in the first minutes of the game. With 9:05 on the scoreboard, Fernandez ripped in his second tally of the quarter to make it 2-0 in favor of the home team. The Lions answered right back with two of their own to lock the score up at 2-2 after the first quarter.
- Emerson opened up the second with a pair of goals to double up the Scots, 4-3 with just over seven minutes to go until halftime. The Lions added two more to their side to lead 6-2 at the break.
- Wright opened the second half with a rip into the back of the net to make it 6-3. Wright striked again from a pass by Fernandez to bring the Scots within two (6-4). William McCormick added to the run scoring the Scots' third straight goal. However, the Lions responded with three goals of their own to make it 9-5 at the end of the third.
- In the fourth, the Scots fought to get back into the game but the Lions held for a 13-5 win.

- The Fighting Scots travel to Savannah, Georiga for their spring break training trip where they will play the Thomas College Terriers on Thursday, March 13 at 12 p.m. at the Savannah College of Art and Design
