Gordon College Men's Rowing traveled down to New Jersey to race at the historic Knecht Cup Regatta. The Fighting Scots competed in heats on Saturday then the finals on Sunday.
Saturday
- The men's double (Aidan Lowther and Levi Lacoss)Â came in second in their heat trailing, Dominican (N.Y.) by just 11 seconds. The Scots started strong but Dominican was able to pull ahead to open water and maintained their edge.Â
- In the men's varsity four DII/DIII heat, Kimmy Stevenson coxed the boat of Lowther, Caleb Peterson, Lacoss, and Marty He to a third place finish. It was a great battle between Susquehanna as the two schools went back and fourth for the entire race. Most notably, this Gordon boat is a varsity lightweight boat that went against all heavyweights.Â
Sunday
- Lowther and Lacoss (men's double) was stroke for stroke against Adrian in the final. Adrian was able to narrowly edge the Fighting Scots going into the finish to claim the last medal spot and give the Scots a fourth place finish.
- A novice boat of He, Owen McLaughlin, Oliver Brown, and Peterson battled Dominican and UMass in the men's varsity quad final. The Scots came in third, performing well in a challenging race.
Gordon will next compete a little closer to home on Saturday, April 19 at Merrimack.Â
