Gordon College Men's Tennis took on the Wentworth Leopards in a rescheduled contest at the Brigham Athletic Complex this afternoon. The Fighting Scots made it two Conference of New England (CNE) dubs in a row with a clean 7-0 victory over Wentworth.
How It Happened
- Carleton Riester and James Wellborn began doubles on the right foot as the No. 3 doubles duo defeated their opponents by a score of 6-1. No. 1's Jeffrey Bodner and Joshua Noel sealed the doubles point with a 9-5 win. Despite the point being in Gordon's favor, Vittal Harith and Gabriel Guzman dropped their No. 2 counterparts, 7-6.
- Lucas Barnes'Â 6-2, 6-2 scoreline, followed by Bodner's 6-1, 6-4 win put the blue and white one win away from clinching the match.Â
- Senior Noel answered the call to come out on top in No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-1 to secure the overall win.
- Not letting up with the win already in hand, Harith (6-4, 6-4), Wellborn (5-7, 6-3, 10-3), and Guzman (6-2, 2-6, 6-1) each collected wins this afternoon.
The Fighting Scots return to the Brigham Athletic Complex a week from today on Wednesday April 23 to play the Colby-Sawyer Chargers at 3:30 p.m. for their final regular-season match. Prior to the match, the Gordon College Men's Tennis team will hold a brief memorial to honor 2021 alum William Jeffreys who recently passed away. For more details please contact head coach
