Hartford Turns Away Scots

On a rainy afternoon, Gordon College Women's Lacrosse took on the Hawks of the University of Hartford in Connecticut where the Fighting Scots lost to their hosts, 19-5.

Kaitlyn Mini scored four goals and added one assist, Caroline Piorkowski scored one goal and assisted three, while Emma Darling grabbed three ground balls and caused two turnovers. 

For the Hawks, Meghan Smith scored five goals, Madison Olmstead scored four goals, and Sara Costa scored two goals.

How It Happened
  • The Hawks found the back of the net first to take a 1-0 lead early in the game. They added more goals to go up 8-0. Piorkowski fed Mini an assist on the Scots' first goal of the game (8-1).
  • Mini returned the favor in the second quarter as she assisted Piorkowki's goal to make it 9-2. The duo struck again as Mini fired a shot into the back of the net off a Piorkowski pass. (12-4). The score stood at 15-4 with the Hawks in the lead to end the half.
  • Mini scored the fifth Scots' goal off a free position shot in the third quarter (17-5). 
  • Goalie Kayla Davidson made four saves in the fourth to keep the Hawks out of the net in the final quarter. The game concluded in a Hawks 19-5 win. 
Beyond The Box Score
  • This is the fifth time this season Caroline Piorkowski has recorded multiple assists. 
  • Gordon plays next on Wednesday, April 9 as they host the Curry College Colonels at 4 p.m. at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
