NORTHAMPTON, Mass.- The Gordon College field hockey team dropped the first match of the season, falling 10-0 to Westfield State Friday afternoon in the opening contest of the Carly Newhof Classic hosted by Smith College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Westfield State tallied four goals in the first quarter and tacked on two goals in the second frame to hold a 6-0 advantage at the half.
- The Owls added a pair of goals in the third period and chalked up two scores in the fourth.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Goalkeeper Allyson Stauffer (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with 15 saves.
- Gordon mustered one shot in the game while Westfield State racked up 30 attempts.
