RALEIGH, N.C.- The Gordon College volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 setbacks Saturday, falling to Maryville and Meredith.
 
GORDON VS. MARYVILLE
THE BASICS:

Records: Fighting Scots (4-2) | Scots (6-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Maryville earned a 25-19 win in the first frame.
• In the second set, Maryville coasted to a 25-9 decision to stretch the gap to 2-0.
• Maryville locked up its sixth-consecutive victory with a 25-13 win in the third.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) notched a team-best six kills.
• Annika Schmitt (Quincy, Mass.) posted 12 digs and seven assists.
• Allison Trogdon (Williamsburg, Va.) chipped in with three kills.

 
GORDON VS. MEREDITH
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 0, Meredith 3
Records: Fighting Scots (4-3) | Avenging Angels (5-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Meredith rolled to a 25-10 victory in the opening set to grab a 1-0 lead.
• The Avenging Angels eked out a 25-23 win in the second frame to extend their advantage to 2-0.
• Meredith edged Gordon 26-24 in the third to wrap up the straight-sets victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) finished with 11 kills and 16 digs.
• Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas) added 10 kills and nine digs.
• Annika Schmitt (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 24 assists and six digs.
• Amanda Pierce (Johnston, R.I.) recorded 14 digs.
