CASTINE, Maine- The Gordon College men's lacrosse team fell 16-8 at Maine Maritime Saturday afternoon in the first game of the 2026 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Maine Maritime chalked up five goals in the opening quarter to claim a 5-0 lead after 15 minutes of play.
- Both squads tallied two goals in the second period as the hosts sported a 7-2 halftime advantage.
- The Mariners edged the Fighting Scots 5-4 in the third-quarter scoring to stretch the gap to 12-6 heading into the final frame.
- Maine Maritime notched four goals in the fourth quarter while limiting Gordon to two goals en route to securing its first victory of the year.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Ryan Arthur (Manorville, N.Y.) paced the Fighting Scots with three goals.
- Ryan Long (North Reading, Mass.) posted one goal, two assists, and three ground balls.
- Caden Lake (Basking Ridge, N.J.) finished with one goal and a pair of assists while Wyatt Lake (Basking Ridge, N.J.) added one goal and one assist.
- Cullen Davey (Wolfeboro, N.H.), Soren Glaser (Merrimac, Mass., and Aidan Walsh (Scituate, Mass.) all collected a team-high five ground balls.
- In goal, senior CJ Veader (Bristol, R.I.) racked up 20 saves.
- Gordon registered 39 shots on the afternoon while Maine Maritime generated 55 attempts.
