HENNIKER, N.H.- The Gordon College women's lacrosse team absorbed a 17-4 loss at New England College Saturday in the first contest of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- New England College raced out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter.
- The Pilgrims outscored the Fighting Scots 5-2 in the second period to hold a 9-2 advantage at the half.
- The home team tacked on six goals in the third to widen the margin to 15-2.
- Both squads notched a pair of goals in the fourth frame as New England College picked up its first win of the year.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Hannah Bilowz (Woburn, Mass.) paced Gordon with two goals and grabbed six ground balls.
- Jocelyn Noyes (Byfield, Mass.) and Hannah Rose (Andover, Mass.) chipped in with one goal each.
- Sophia Tomassoni (Annapolis, Md.) finished with three caused-turnovers and two ground balls.
- Kayla Davidson (Dracut, Mass.) and Laureen Leggett (Peabody, Mass.) both played 30 minutes between the pipes and registered four saves.
- Gordon concluded the contest with 21 shots while New England College posted 34 shot attempts on the afternoon.
