Volleyball Notches 3-0 Wins Over St. Lawrence, Wheaton

WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College volleyball team concluded the 2026 Gordon Invitational with a pair of straight-set victories Saturday, topping St. Lawrence and Wheaton 3-0 at the Bennett Center.
 
 
GORDON VS. ST. LAWRENCE
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 3, St. Lawrence 0
Records: Fighting Scots (6-5) | Saints (3-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Gordon raced out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-11 decision in the opening set.
  • The Fighting Scots widened the margin to 2-0 after claiming the second frame 25-11.
  • Gordon triumphed 25-20 in the third to clinch its fourth-consecutive sweep.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) paced the Fighting Scots with 12 kills.
  • Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas) posted eight kills and dealt seven aces.
  • Vivian Castano (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) finished with 26 assists and seven digs.
  • Amanda Pierce (Johnston, R.I.) registered a team-high eight digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Gordon captured the first set 25-22 to establish a 1-0 advantage.
  • The home team prevailed 25-20 in the second stanza to extend the gap to 2-0.
  • The Fighting Scots outlasted the Lyons 30-28 in the third frame to lock up their fifth win in a row. After fending off a set-point by Wheaton at 25-24, Gordon put an exclamation point on the victory with a match-clinching block by Teagan Brideweser (Warwick, N.Y.) and Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Teagan Brideweser (Warwick, N.Y.) and Annie ZImmerman (Austin, Texas) both posted 12 kills to lead the offense.
  • Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) finished with nine kills and 15 digs.
  • Allison Trogdon (Williamsburg, Va.) chalked up 12 digs to go with seven kills.
  • Vivian Castano (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) recorded 35 assists and 11 digs.
