Gordon Men's Basketball senior guard Alex Carnes (Phoenix, Ariz.) has been named Gordon's Athlete of the Week after coming through in the clutch to help lead the Scots to a perfect 3-0 week.

Carnes kicked off the week with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double in 25 minutes of play in Gordon's 76-64 road win over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) host Western New England on January 7. He followed that up two days later with a season-high 22 points (3-4 from behind the arc) and eight rebounds in a 63-59 home win over defending CCC champion Curry College. Using that momentum in the final outing of the week on January 11, Carnes booked a 10-point, 10-rebound, five-assist effort in a narrow 71-70 CCC victory over host Salve Regina, clinching the game for the Scots with a pair of made free throws with 7.1 ticks on the clock.

Overall on the season he is averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
