Gordon Field Hockey rising senior Mindy Fowler (Winslow, Maine) has been named Gordon's Athlete of the Week for the week of July 2.

Elected as one of three captains for the Fighting Scots' upcoming fall campaign, Fowler started in the midfield in each of the team's 21 games in 2011. As the conduit between the backfield and the Scots' front line, she contributed four assists on the offensive end and helped anchor a defense that posted a 2.80 goals against average.

Joining her to help captain the 2012 effort are fellow seniors Kelsey Spotts (Pittsford, Vt.) and Leah LaPalombara (Glen Mills, Pa.).

Also a member of Gordon Women's Lacrosse, Fowler was an integral piece of a defense that posted an 11.00 goals against average en route to a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Runner-Up finish.
