Scots Handle Gulls for Big CCC Win

Match Results
BEVERLY, Mass.—For the first time in over a decade, Gordon Men's Tennis found themselves on the winning side of a match with Endicott, beating the Gulls 6-3 on Sunday. The Fighting Scots took the important 2-1 lead after doubles and won the first three singles matches to be completed to secure the victory.

Endicott falls to 10-7 overall and 4-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Gordon kept their hopes for a first-round bye alive entering the CCC finale on Tuesday against Eastern Nazarene. The Fighting Scots have won eight straight matches and are one win away from the program wins record at 15-4.  Gordon is also 6-1 in the conference.

The neck and neck matchup started off well in Gordon's favor as Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) doubled up Chris Kirkpatrick and Keaton McCleary at the top flight, 8-4. Endicott evened the score right back just moments later as Justin Toler and Sean McAndrews handled Gordon's second duo 8-3.

The Fighting Scots grabbed the always-important second points with another 8-4 win, this time by the third unit. Jonathan Frink (La Cresecenta, Calif.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) kept their opponents at a distance for much of the match to take the key win.

Gordon made quick work of the decision by winning the first three singles matches. Frink continued his stellar play with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the third flight, while Eric Kim (La Crescenta, Calif.) brought Gordon to the brink with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nick Eherts.

Gordon had fallen on the wrong side of 5-4 matches with the Gulls in recent memory, but the Fighting Scots erased years of frustration when Lookwhy finished off Charles Book 6-4, 6-1.

Endicott won three-set matches at four and six to make things closer, while Casady completed a perfect day with a comeback triumph at No. 1 over Kirkpatrick.

The Gulls were the final program needed to be defeated during head coach Peter Amadon's  tenure.
