PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Gordon's men's track team competed at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational hosted by Roger Williams and finished third with 67 points.
Roger Williams won the invitational with 260 points.
Alex King won the pole vault as he cleared the bar at a personal-best and meet record of 4.10 meters. His mark hit the qualifying mark for the New England Championships. He also placed second in the 400 meters in 53.01 and fourth in the javelin with a toss of 42.66 meters.
Matt Jaeger finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 12.34 meters.
Chase Silvia tied for second in the high jump as he cleared the bar at 1.83 meters. He also placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 1:02.64, fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.98, and eighth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.05 meters. The 4x400-meter relay team finished third in 3:43.66 and the 4x100-meter relay team placed fifth in 1:12.67.
Jack Gilbert placed fifth in the 1500 meters in a personal-best of 4:23.33 and fifth in the 3000 meters in a career-best of 9:43.96.
Sevon Newman finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 32.16 meters while
Mike Patoto placed eighth with a toss of 30.58 meters and
Christian Draus finished tenth with a throw of 27.44 meters. Draus also finished eighth in the hammer with a toss of 20.81 meters and ninth in the shot put with a throw of 9.98 meters.
Kevin Leblanc placed seventh in the 400 meters in a personal-best of 56.45.
Jesse Edwards finished seventh in the 5000 meters in 17:17.45 and ninth in the 3000 meters in 10:16.98.
Spencer Roffee placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.71
Benjamin Schneider led Gordon in the 800 meters with a 12
th place finish in 2:27.75. Roffee finished 14
th in the 100 meters in 13.81. Leblanc also placed 14
th in the 200 meters in 26.09.
The Fighting Scots will next compete at the New England Championships hosted by MIT May 5.
