| Box Score 2 WENHAM, Mass.-  Aaron Ferreira (Fall River, Mass.) and Cael Smith (Junction City, Kan.) each launched a home run as the Gordon College baseball team split a non-conference twinbill with Colby-Sawyer Wednesday at J. Tec White Field. The Fighting Scot fell 9-6 in extra innings before cruising to a 10-4 victory in the series finale.
 

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Colby-Sawyer captured an early 2-0 lead with a pair of solo home runs in the first two innings.
• Gordon chalked up a run in the bottom of the second inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
• The Chargers responded with a pair of runs in the third to extend their advantage to 4-1.
• The Fighting Scots narrowed the gap to 4-2 with one run in the fourth frame.
• Colby-Sawyer tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth innings to push its lead to 6-2.
• Gordon manufactured three runs in the home half of the sixth to pull to within a run, 6-5.
• The Fighting Scots tied the game at 6-6 with one run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
• The Chargers produced three runs in the top of the eighth to claim a 9-6 edge.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Carter Shin (Burlington, Ontario) notched four hits, one run scored, and a stolen base.
• Cam Wilbur (Dighton, Mass.) posted two base knocks, one RBI, and one run scored.
• Cael Smith (Junction City, Kan.) chipped in with one hit, one RBI, and a run scored.
• Josh Thiero (Piscataway, N.J.) hurled 4.1 innings and fanned two batters. Jacob Bettencourt (Attleboro, Mass.) pitched 3.2 innings of relief and finished with four strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Gordon jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
• Colby-Sawyer got on the board in the top of the second, scoring one run to slash the deficit to 3-1.
• The Fighting Scots plated three runs in the third to widen the margin to 6-1.
• The Chargers tallied one run in the fourth inning to trim the gap to 6-2 before the hosts answered with a run in the bottom of the frame as Aaron Ferreira (Fall River, Mass.) belted a solo shot to reestablish Gordon's five-run lead, 7-2.
• After Colby-Sawyer picked up a run in the top of the fifth inning, Gordon generated three runs in the home half of the fifth to push its advantage to 10-3. Cael Smith (Junction City, Kan.) blasted a solo home run before Cam Wilbur (Dighton, Mass.) flared a two-run single to left field later in the frame.
• The visitors managed one run in the top of the seventh as the Fighting Scots salvaged a split with a 10-4 win.
