CNE RELEASE
As announced by the Conference of New England (CNE) today, Gordon College Softball's
Ami Rivera and
Caoimhe Wernsing have been awarded a spot on the All-CNE Third Team.
Samantha Perkins earned a spot on the Inaugural Community Service Team.
Voting for the All-Conference Teams and major awards was conducted by CNE head softball coaches after the conclusion of the regular season.
Rivera has earned a spot on an All-Conference team all four years as a Scot. The decorated senior slugger displayed one of the most powerful and consistent bats in the league while leading the infield at the shortstop position. Rivera ranks second in the CNE in batting average (.417)
while only three student-athletes in the conference batted over .400. Rivera also ranks top ten in the conference in home runs with four. Her slugging % of .642 stood at sixth in the CNE. On defense, she is first in the CNE in assists with 108. One of Rivera's most dominant games came against Hartford where she hit a home run and a double to record four RBIs.
In her first season as a Scot, Wernsing paved her way to a spot on the All-CNE Third Team. The junior transfer's steady glove and strong bat put the league on notice this season. She was one of the most reliable fielders with the seventh best fielding percentage in the CNE (.989) and another seventh best 171 putouts. Wernsing hit an impressive .346 batting percentage while getting on base with a third best on base percentage of .490. One of her most impactful games this season came against Endicott where she batted a .412 and hit a 3 RBI homer.
