BEVERLY, Mass.- Freshman Cael Smith (Junction City, Kan.) of the Gordon College baseball team garnered Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week honors, announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Smith batted .571 from the dish as he racked up five hits, four RBIs, three runs scored, and one stolen base as the Fighting Scots posted a 1-2 record to open play at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida.

Gordon boasts a 1-3 overall record and will take on Martin Luther March 10 in a doubleheader.
